welcome to the forum - there are lots of companies around that offer you assistance in setting up and IVA or DMP etc - Melanie Giles who posts on this forum is an excellent recommended IP, as are others who post on this forum. Myself, I am with Debt Free Direct - not everyone's favourite, but so far so good for me - all IP's have their own methods and ways of working and therefore it is important that you look around before deciding - my other advice is do not agree to anything if you believe it is unaffordable - on an IVA for five years is a commitment you have to be prepared to forego alot of extra things including new cars, holidays abroad etc etc - you live on a budget which does not allow for lots of extra's so ensure the agreed figure is realistic from the outset.

Hi and welcome.

Visit www.iva.com where you will find lists of reputable companies who can give you the advice you need.

There are several debt advisors and IP's who post on here, who are highly recommended. Melanie Giles, Andy Davie, VikiW, Size 5. Their details can be found under the experts link at the left hand side of the page here.

Whoever you speak to should give you all the options available to you - dmp, iva or bankruptcy. They will advise you as to the best one for you.

Hi

I am not an expert and have only just had my IVA approved .

However I spoke to a couple of companies before going with Melanie Giles.

My advise would be shop around and follow your gut instinct, an IVA is a financial agreement for the next five years and needs to be with someone you feel is honest and you can trust.

As soon as I spoke to Tina from Melanie's team I felt I could be completely honest, she supported me through the initial emotions and helped us get together our evidence. Once I spoke to Melanie I knew we had made the right choice.

Hope things work out for you.

Best bet is to visit www.iva.com and read reviews on many practitioners and pick one or two to have a chat with. Good luck.

You have to be certain that you are happy with who you pick - 5 years is a long time to be stuck with an IP that you are not happy with.

Hope you get it sorted and let us know how you get on.
