Hi Julieh, my advice is to browse through the forum post and also have a chat with a couple of company's.

There are many IP's who post on here so have a chat to them, they will be very honest and helpful to you.

You can chat to a number of IP firms and go with the company that makes you feel most comfortable. To be fair most firms are professional outfits and you should receive a good service from them all. Do not pay up front fees as many IP firm operate on a no win no fee basis. Good luck.

you need to find the IP that feels the most comfortable with you. I used ClearDebt and they absolutely fantastic and got my IVA through even the dividend was low.

Hi Julieh
When selecting a debt advisor you should be asking
• Does my plan resolve my debt? How long will it take? Can creditors charge interest? Can they change the plan?
• Do you have an industry accreditation such as The Debt Standard (www.thedebtstandard.co.uk)
• Do you comply with the IVA Protocol?
• Who are you regulated by?
• What is your IVA approval rate?

There are plenty of very reputable firms in the market and it is certainly worth investigating further.

Thanks

Hi,

Please visit www.iva.com for a list of companies and reviews. Give one or two a ring and you will receive free and impartial advice as to all the options open to you and the best way forward for your circumstances.

I have to say that I have never heard of Easierdebt. Baines and Ernst are not IP's, they will charge you fees to send you to their sister company, Blair Endersby. You can do this yourself without having to pay any extra.

Alternatively, you coud click on the expert link on the left hand side of the page here and contact anyone of the those.

You will receive excellent service.

I do agree with some of what Declan says but not all IPs or IP firms use the IVA Protocol for a variety of reasons. This does not mean that the protocol firms are any better than those who choose to operate under the R3 guidelines and regardless protocol IVAs can only be used in certain cases.

Using a firm who operate protocol will not increase the likelihood of your IVA being accepted and indeed if you are self employed protocol does not apply.

Hi,

Please do not use Baines and Ernst (they only do DMP's) you will be referred to there sister company which is Blair Endersby and I would not recommend them as they are a large company with poor customer service.

You would be better off going with a smaller company that offers a more personal service such as Melanie Giles who regulary posts here and operates a fantastic firm

Julieh - I can strongly suggest you go to Melanie Giles (see her reviews on www.iva.com; Melanie got a very difficult IVA (non prtocol) through for my husband at first attempt when several companies said "no chance". Melanie is superb at her job and pulls out all the stops for her clients.J

I would have a look at the reviews on www.iva.com and ring around a few and see who you feel is right for you. You can always ask how others have experienced any firm by posting on the forum. I used ClearDebt and everybody on the forum that has also used them as always held them in high esteem.

I went with Payplan who were fantastic and mine was approved a few weeks ago. If I had known about this forum then I would have gone with Melanie Giles as she has an excellent reputation and you get a more personal one to one service.

I'm with Payplan as well and so far have received excellent service.

I would have shopped round though if I had found this forum first.

Easierdebt are also not insolvency practitioners, but they do their own DMPs. They are sure to refer you to an insolvency practitioner after completing some initial paperwork with you.

Why not have a read of my blog on "Choosing an Advisor", where you might find some useful tips.
