Good one Lily ! (and thankyou)

Chris - I'm jealous - the only thing I ever got off Mercers was boring old B&W jobs - on cheap paper to boot !

Best Regards, Simon.

Thanks for all that input it made me laugh.

melanie - I think you hit the nail on the head. The company who called me are called 'ClearStart.org'. When he took down my incomings and outgoings he worked out I was £500 a month short to make ends meet. But what was odd was that he decided to ignore a casual income from a flat mate (and close friend) of £450 and he also included £50 a month for the GYM!!! which I canceled 2 weeks ago... also my income fluctuates. Sometimes it good sometimes it poorer...

I think I will investigate IVA's and various IP's as a safety measure but actually try and sort this out without spoiling my credit record (which is fine at the moment) but I have been very surprised that companies are actually recommending it to me when it is possible I don't need it.

However I am being chased for a tax bill with brown letters being spewed out to me almost daily. This is to do with a late submission of my 2006/7 tax return due to have a terrible accountant with more clients than he can handle...snowed under accountants are a nightmare.

Im going to stick with this site though as I have been genuinly moved by the horror moneymatters can fill our lives up with.

It will be good to have you around roundcat ... whichever way those of us who are addressing our debt situation achieve it we can offer support and encouragement to others on the journey.[:)]

Hi
We have all been there and some still there, the letters are aweful and sometimes you think, what sort of person could write these things.
Good luck with your IVA a bit of acvice don't go with Synergi, they are the most unprofessional company ever, we had our IVA rejected, not there fault I know but during our time with them they were slow, didn;t keep up informed of what was happening and since the rejection the proceeded to take a further £600 from our bank account and we had such a struggle to get it back.
Good luck and hopefully there is light at the end of the tunnel.
