Before my IVA, my current account was with HSBC as well as a loan and credit card. These are all now included in my IVA. I changed to a Co-Op standard current account with a Visa Delta debit card as soon as I started IVA proceedings and had no problem getting the account. It has no overdraft facility as it shouldn’t have whilst I’m in the IVA. However, my wife’s current account is with HSBC. Are we correct in thinking that HSBC have no claim on my wife’s current account with regard to my debt with them? My IVA has been running for four months and my wife’s current account has always been run properly. I’m sure we’re worrying unnecessarily, but I would like confirmation that her account is safe. My wife could open a current account with someone else, but is it necessary?

Hi
It's safe presuming that it's a sole account in her name.

Thanks, Andy. It is a sole account in her name only as we've always had separate bank accounts.
