thanks for all the advice melanie, one more thing!!! i get paid tomorrow and my money will go into my bank and i am not able to stop direct debits that will go out for my loan etc as they will go out on monday i've been told just to take all the money out and use it for living expenses and to make my 1st payment to Thomas Clark. Will this not annoy the bank though when it comes to reviewing my case? my iva has been calculated using my full overdraft limit
Zoe i've had a few phone calls but i'm not really behind with any repayments etc yet so i'm sure they will start soon!

Unlikely to upset the bank too much. And it is your money not theirs. You are acting responsibly to all of the creditors and not just one, and you are not worsening their position by taking the money out, so I would proceed as you have been advised.

Good luck

Hi Phil

If your loan is with HSBC they will not allow you to cancel the DD. My accounts were with them and I tried it. You need to open a basic account ASAP, make sure you open an account with a bank that is neither a creditor or an associate of a creditor.

I opened an account with Lloyds TSB (cause theres two in my town) I had online facilities with both, I just transferred all my money from HSBC online. They never even noticed.

Dont worry about annoying the bank, you are doing what you need to do to address your problem. Your IVA is what is important now. (if its HSBC, in a few weeks you wont care)

Good luck

LILY

Hi Zoe, j_s and Phill, sorry for the delay in answering. I originally contacted Thomas Charles and spoke to a debt adviser there. She prepared all the paperwork, and this was then forwarded to Accuma, which is where my IP is from. I seem to remember that Thomas Charles and Accuma are possibly something to do with each other, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

I didn't owe HSBC or Northern Rock, but I did owe approx £9k to MBNA. They were a pain - they kept ringing me at work until I told them that my boss wasn't happy and I would lose my job if they kept calling, and therefore they wouldn't get anything. That seemed to work, and ironically they didn't even bother voting!

Three down, fifty seven to go until freedom!
