will i ever be able to get a mortgage again after the 5 years?
Will it effect the credit rating of my friend i rent with?
Will it always be there like a big black blob on my credit file?

Hi prc and welcome to the forum

Yes you will be able to get a mortgage once your IVA has concluded - so long as your circumstances fit the lending criteria operated by respective lenders.

Your friend's credit rating should not be impaired.

Details of the IVA will remain on your credit file for 6 years following the acceptance of an arrangement by your creditors.

Welcome to the forum prc,

Once your IVA is concluded it will be taken off the insolvency register but will remain on your credit file for a total of six years from the date that it first started.
It will have little effect on your ability to take a mortgage.
Your IVA wont affect your friends credit rating.

Regards,
Michelle P.

Welcome to the Forum prc,

Getting a mortgage after being in an IVA is possible, as an IVA stays on your credit file for a 6 year period (from inception date) you may want to wait till its over to seek a mortgage.

Your IVA should not affect your friends credit rating, as the debts are in your name.

Getting a mortgage should be a relatively straightforward process but you may need to seek the assistance of a mortgage broker rather than a high street bank.

Your circumstances would be viewed on an individual basis and there should not be any reasons why you wouldn`t be accepted for a mortgage, the rate will depend on your circumstances.Tony

Hi Prc the IVA will stay on your credit file for six years. You maybe able to remortgage during your IVA as long as you have agreement from your IP / Creditors and your IVA has been carried out satisfactorily.

When your IVA completes your prospects for a more favourable mortgage product increases over time – even with the IVA still showing on your file.
