How long does an IVA stay on your credit report. For example, if I took out an IVA will I ever be able to get credit again?

It would stay on your credit file for 6 years from the day an IVA was accepted.

I have posted previously on this, and whilst each and every credit company will have its own way of deciding whether to grant credit facilities in the future, I am coming across an increasing number (thankfully still rare) of 2nd IVA scenarios, i.e people who have had an IVA previously who are now having to look at another one.

What this says about those individuals, and the companies that have advanced the credit, is open to interpretation depending on your own viewpoint, but an IVA in itself will not mean that categorically you will never get credit again.

Regards.

Hi Joanne and welcome to the forum.
Having been through debt and having too much credit readily available I am now in an IVA. For me personally future credit (apart from hopefully a mortgage) is something I hope is firmly behind me and if I survive the IVA I'm looking forward to a debt free life!!
Good luck,
Chardonnay

Thanks Chardonnay.
I too am also in an IVA and to be honest I dont want any further credit, life has never been so stress free since I started the IVA. But, I am going on holiday at the end of the week and applied for an overdraft at my bank for emergencies, I had no real intention of using the money unless I had to but the bank refused me point blank even though I have run the account for over 2 years with regular income going into it and never been overdrawn. I just wondered if it was always going to be like that or whether after x amount of years everything is wiped clean. I agree with you though, I would never consider large credit ever again.
Thanks for your help. Joanne.

Hey Joanne, as Mrs Skint has says, it will be six years from the date of your creditors meeting, then the IVA will drop from your file. Not sure whether that will make it easier to obtain credit but it has got to help. Have a lovely holiday. X

Hi Joanne,
see now what you meant - I hope you find a solution to get some extra cash for your holiday - could family or friends help with a short term loan? Your holiday situation is an example of what I plan to use my Bread card for.
I bank with the co-op (I moved to them in March) and I have been told that after being in credit (not overdrawn) for six months they will then offer a cheque book and after that they do offer over-draughts (I don't want one of those again, but it will be good for some people).
I don't know if that helps at all!
I hope you have a super holiday,
Hugs,
Chardonnay

Thanks Chardonnay.

Yes it does help.
Monies all sorted now for the holiday and to be honest being refused an overdraft has done me a favour because I dont really want credit ever again but I was curious to know how long "it" stayed on my "report"!
Thank you for taking the time to help me.

Thanks Chardonnay.

I am off to Egypt, Sharm El Sheikh, to be exact. Really looking forward to it although getting a bit worried about the heat. The last time I looked it was 43 dgreees and rising! Looks like I will spend 2 weeks floating in the sea on a lilo. Its a hard life!!!!

I got back from Eqypt four weeks ago and it was nearly 50 degrees in the shade. Make sure you take plenty of factor 30 with you.

Thanks Melanie.

Can I ask, did it cool down in the evening and was the sea cold?

Thanks Joanne.

The sea is over 30 degrees, and I was on a liveaboard diving so it will be warmer at the shore. And no it does not get cool at night - so make sure you have booked somewhere with aircon!

You will love it - the Egyptian people are absolutely tremendous, and Sharm is lovely. Have a beer in the Hard Rock Cafe for all of us left in rainy Britain!
