If my parents took out an IVA. Will it affect my chances of getting credit in the future as I still live at home?

It should not affect you at all as the IVA will be held against the person(s), not the address. However, I did see a post somewhere where the initials and the address were the same and the credit files somehow got merged. If this is the case, it may be worth requesting a copy of your credit file just to make sure it is still correct after the IVA has been registered

A credit search is done via name + address + DOB so the fact two people live at the same address with same initial unless they were born on the same day there should be no 'merging' of credit files.

What can happen is the CRA creates what is called an association (between you and your parents)- in this instance it can effect things however you can remove this by demonstrating that your financial affairs are separate from those of your parents.

Despite some posts on the forum in the past couple of weeks there is no such thing as a 'credit blacklist' for either addresses or individuals.
