God, not sure where to start here...
My boyfriend has just found out he has a CCJ agaisnt him. He is in the army and last year was away in Bosnia and Iraq. However, while he was away the CCJ was done without his knowledge.
Unfortunately he has admitted today that he did take out credit to purchase a car and defaulted on the payments!!
His debt is for approx £21000.
he is looking into getting an IVA.
However, i'm really concerned about this as i own my own house and Kingsley moved in, in April 2008 when he got home form Iraq.
If he took this IVA out would my house be at risk and will it affect my credit rating?
I'm so worried about this.

Hi there

Please dont worry these are his debts and not yours and therefore your assets are safe. I would just wait until a professional expert picks this up and gives further reasurance. He needs to talk with an insolvency practitioner. I know that one of our experts deals with Military personal who find themselves in debt so I am sure you will be in good hands with her.

Hang on in there for now, please dont worry, there is always an answer to every problem.

I asked God for an answer, I have to live with his reply.

Please don't worry about this, as his credit rating is not going to affect you or your property.

Try to persuade him to approach an insolvency practitioner for advice about his options, as he has enough to worry about at the moment. I am ex-Army, and my husband was a regular soldier - and I know how much of a worry it is when they are on active service overseas.

He cannot afford to be distracted by debt worries whilst on Ops, so do try to get him to seek some help. There are many members of HM Forces in financial difficulty at the moment, due to the appalling wages that they get paid for putting their lives on the line every single day.

Melanie is right. Speak to him and get him to have a chat with an Insolvency Practitioner. A good start would be for him to visit www.iva.com.
