Hi and welcome. Unless you're asked the question, then there is no need to declare an IVA. I know we do have some posters in the nursing profession. Good luck with your application.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

It should not be an issue unless you intend to become a director in an NHS organisation.
IVA started March 2011, Completed March 2016 and certificate issued 11 days after final payment. It was not always easy but then some of the best decisions aren't.

Hi,

You could always speak to HR anonymously and ask the question but, as the others have said, it shouldn't be a problem.

I have worked for the NHS for 29 years and have an IVA and I know people at my trust who have been made bankrupt and it hasn't affected our posts or promotion. I interview people for jobs and we have never asked about finances only DRB etc. Some people have their debts taken from salary

Thank you all for your replies.I felt a lot better. I will also try to ring HR anonymously just to make sure. Any nurses here that can share their experience as well? I'd be grateful. Thanks again, i really like this forum

The NHS is interested in your criminal record but not your finances. My director knows about my IVA and she isn't bothered and was proud I was taking responsibility and got an IVA. we have standing financial instructions that we all must abide by but with regards your personal finances that does not form part of a job specification. And besides, you could play the Equality Act card and say your finances were through stress and depression and Occ health would support you. You are fine really, it is your nursing skills, compassion, empathy they are interest in

The other was a nurse during the IVA and it was never an issue - she even had a car through the NHS lease hire scheme without any problems.

Your financial history should only impact in certain limited situations e.g. if you were asked to be a trustee of a charity etc.

Completely agree with the above comments: It should not become an issue and will not even be asked after.
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.
IVA Completed 23rd July 2013 .... C.C. 10th January 2014
