Hi,
I am considering bankruptcy, however I have been advised that the Official Receiver will tell my landlord that I have gone bankrupt. This really worries me.
Can you tell me if this is always the case and if there is some way that this can be avoided? Many thanks

You will need to check the terms of your tennancy agreement to see if theres any clauses regarding bankruptcy.
As for the OR i really cant anwer that 1 but im sure somebody will.
So long as your rent is up to date there may be no real problem with your landlord in either case.

The OR will usually write to your landlord under their normal procedures, as there could be a current or contingent liability under your lease or tenancy agreement.

hi dj a
I am in rented accom...from housing association.
I was in a panic about our home too, but I read our agreement,
and as I could find no info about BR etc..I got in touch anyway,
and told my landlord about my position....I had a visit,,,got
it sorted, (and yes I was in arrears) through no fault of our own
(housing benefit dept: error)..there was an opinion... thats OK.
we are on your side//////in other words, own up, and face the
problem head on.....its Ok when you tell it the way it is!!!

good luck to you and yours

kind regards
PJ

My OR told me that she didnt need to inform my landlord as I had given her a copy of the complete tenancy agreement, and also the terms of my tenancy did not mention Bankrupts.

Check your agreement, and make sure you give the OR a copy.
