Just to clarify that the messages I had left by Mercers were just asking for me to phone them. There was no mention of anything else.

Sometimes I speak to them depending on sort of day I've had but your right it doesn't make any difference whether you talk to them or not because they still ring. I have to say though 3 out of 6 of my creditors hayve not phoned just written, the other two are MBNA who kept ringing and even though they said they would make a note on the file a couple of days later I got a letter which implied they hadn't noted at all. The last call from them was a very nice helpful lady who wanted me to talk to their IVA dept!! I have finally spoken to Mercers today after days of not doing. Very nice lady who "wanted to help me" and did I fully appreciate the route I was taking - are they debt counsellors now as well. She said though could make a payment today - had she not been listening. No I couldn't and that would be unfair on the other creditors - she wanted to help she said and would make a note so I didn't get doorstep collection. After being on this forum for a few weeks now I am not letting any of these worry me as I know it will get sorted. Just for info drowning mummy - I sent all my stuff to Melanie's team beginning of last week so I think we are both at about the same stage.

Thanks for all your responses. 5 more calls today, one from Leeds, so I guess thats the Halifax!
Hi Elizabeth, I should have all my stuff sent off to Melanies team by friday, just waiting for one house valuation and a copy of our council tax statement whichI ordered nearly 2 weeks ago and have chased up twice!!!!!!!!
Kazzy is at the same stage too, so all three of us can compare our tales as the weeks go on.

Hi Kaz & Elizabeth. Don't know whether I am tempting fate but I havent had any calls yet..... wait for it..... the phone will ring now! Yep, we have all started at about the same time. Heard today that Melanie's team are still waiting for paperwork we sent a week ago by recorded delivery, so a bit concerned about that. Was hoping that NR have already been approached but not yet. The longer the time goes on, the more anxious I become but trying my hardest not to get too stressed about it, as work is really stressful and I have high BP.

Oh well, can't rush these things - what will be will be. Keep positive ladies (sounds rich coming from me at the mo). Keep posting. Kazzy x

I have down moments and sometimes get stressed which doesn't help my crohns. I have a very very demanding job so have to try to keep my head straight. I actually feel quite good about sorting things out now because at least I won't have the stress each time a credit card bill comes through the post.

Hi Elizabeth. I also feel really good about sorting things, and that is the one thing that keeps me going forward, but as I have said before, I am SO impatient and wants things done as soon as I have made my decision. In reality I know I have to be patient as there is a lot involved with sorting out these cases I am sure. It was a bit of a blow hearing that it appears that some of my p/work has not arrived, so I will have to resend as now I feel that things have been delayed by a week but there's nothing I can do about it. I wish I could fax documents over, but the only fax machine is at work and its too risky sending anything from there. Never mind, will get it sorted tomorrow. Hope we can follow each other's cases. Kaz (Drowing Mummy) and I are in touch offline, its lovely to have a friend to talk to (or 200 on this site :) ). Spk soon Kazzy x

Hi All,
You are in good hands with your proposed solution companies so try to relax - being stressed doesn't help medical conditions (I am a nurse). The companies involved don't talk to each other and indivisual staff calling you are only paid to do that so they don't communicate either. Hence you will find they say I'll note that down and an hour later you get another call - it is stressful, but most of us have been through it so can reassure you it's normal...if there is such a thing in this situation.
Try to keep acive (an evening walk is free or a cycle if you own a bike), eat as healthily as you can and if sleep is a problem I found Nytol one a night helped a lot (the herbal tablets were money wasted for me).
If I can help in a medical/nursing capacity please let me know - I wish I could give more money advice but I'm also a novice to this!!)
Thinking of you and here to help,
Hugs,
Chardonnay x

Hi Chard, its so lovely to see you SO much more positive. I was very worried about you last week and followed your desperate thread with intensity. Thanks for your wise advice. Activity certainly does relieve tension. I have lost 2st 9lbs since 8.1.08, so I feel pretty good about myself but am struggling a bit with the 'mental' side of this IVA process. Its good to know we have a nurse on hand if needed (need to get that flaming blood pressure down :-) ) Some of us are novices but the strength we have between us in propping up each other is amazing. Thanks for your reply. Kazzy x

Thanks Chardonnay,
I too was worried about you last week, and kazzy is right, you sound a million times better. The Internet........what a fab invention!
So Elizabeth has crohns, Kazzy has high bp and I have stress related eczema with a bit of hair loss (luckily hair loss ot noticeable), what a bunch we are! Luckily we have nurse Chardonnay on hand lol!
My calls were still coming through at 9pm tonight and I am only 2 weeks late in not making payments for the first time.
I'm enjoying the old frugal business and cant believe I didnt live like this sooner. Its my daughters 3 rd birthday next week and tonight I found some great local stuff on ebay for her! All excellent condition and stuff that she will just love! Our food bills have decreased thanks to being eagle eyed when shopping (used to spend about £800 pm), so getting ourselves used to life if our IVA is approved. Only problem is that we owe just over a thousand to friends who helped us out, but with no creditors to pay, hopefully we can get this payed back asap.
Wittering now!
Anyway was going to say that I've been running tonight and feel heaps better and I advertised for some keep fit equipment on freecyle and someone is delivering me some exercise equipment (free) tomorrow!
Stop rambling now!

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, and if I am, I apologise now, but once you have started down the IVA route I don't think you are allowed to pay money to anyone not included in your iva. This is seen as favouring one creditor more than another. I take it that this debt has not been included?

As I say, I could have got it totally wrong, so I hope someone will come back to me on this.

Oh No! I have to pay them back, I would die of shame if I couldnt. They are not included in the IVA because I didnt think they should be (they are not a professional body). Oh No!

I hate that I have upset you drowning mummy! As I say, I could be wrong, but I am sure that I have read similar posts on this subject before. Really need someone to come along and give me the proper answer

I'm sure that you are right kallis as it makes sense. I guess I'll just have to hang my head and ask if I can pay them out of my budget each month. Oh dear. Things are dire at the moment anyway as hubby not had a pay since March (after losing job), and all we've lived on is my stat mat pay of £100pw, not entitled to any benefits as technically I have a job (even though I cant return due to training courses being full). But now he has new job, should be paid in 2 weeks and then we can start working our I&E. I'm sure this headache will soon be gone.
