within 4 hours bailiffs called to remove goods

i received a letter about c/tax arears of £140 from bailiffs asking me to make contact to arrange payment within 4 hours they called to try and remove goods adding further charges i was out at the time can the do this in such a short space of time they have not gave me time to respond to their letter

Hi jrd abd welcome to the forum

I am afraid that the local council are much quicker off the mark than usual banking and finance creditors, and if they have a judgement against you then they are entitled to instruct bailiffs. It does seem, however, that they have been extremely speedy in your case, so I suggest that you go down to the council offices with an offer of repayment as soon as possible.

I am afraid that i am going to have to argue here!
I work for a local council in their recovery section.
The Local Council are required to send a letter to you warning of bailiff action. This letter must include a schedule 5 notice of charges before bailiffs are sent.
Did you never receive this?

Hi thanxs for your info so it apears the council were at fault and withdrew the debt by asking the baliffs to return it back to the council i was told they were alot of hic cups and that i only owed part of the debt which has been paid in full.
