Why are you prepared to pay someone £2k to declare bankruptcy when you can do this yourself for £700 anyway?, at the end of the day if you can't afford the £700 at the moment, just don't pay anything towards your debts for a few months while you save up the fee.

But before this, you really need to take INDEPENDENT advice first on how BR will affect you, the court will want to know you have done this first before they would approve BR

Gavin, Im being cynical about the person who has done this, not you. I just wanted to clarify that. If you really want to meet the guy despite all the suspicions then go ahead. But please write down the main points of his sales pitch (which is what it will be)do not under any circumstances commit to anything or sign any pieces of paper..and come back on here or to a BR forum afterwards and post the main points so that you can get some real independent feedback before you make a decision.

Failing all that just take Lem's sensible advice.

Good luck.

I wouldn't touch a company like this at all - any reputable one will have their name on the flyer. Rven the ambulance chasers that come on here advertise their company details.

When you rang this company initially, didn't they answer with a name?

Be very wary - they will try high pressure sales and you may find it difficult to get them to leave your property.

There have been cases of loan sharks offering people the money to go BR with very high interest rates, you think your getting one situation fixed where as in fact your in a whole other one, do not touch this guy with a barge pole i promise you it will end in tears! if anything go to the CAB!!!

Gavin, why not contact one of our professionals on here who post, they'll talk you through things, just don't want you getting in a mess when from what others have said it's fairly simple to do yourself. I do realise it's the fee that's the issue here but try and talk through all options before jumping into anything,. x

Definitely not!! I doubt the OR would be impressed and they can continue to look into your business after the br has finished. I think they would be checking any money that went into your bank account now.

Gavin this man needs reporting.... I am sure this must be an illegal practice. Getting vulnerable people to sign up to a post-dated loan, (in exchange for bankruptcy fees) to be paid when the bankruptcy is finished.... sounds like FRAUD to me.

At a guess where this guy is going to trounce you, the interest will start now. So the loan may be payable next year but it'll have compounded interest added to it. And if you don't pay it, they'll pay you a visit and you won't want that

I would not touch this at all. You have no idea what is going to happen in the future.

Have I read your post correctly that he is not registered,to lend money? If so then he is a loan shark and if there is no paper trail, what is to stop him upping the figures at the end?

Sorry to sound harsh Gavin but you'd be an apocolyptic moron to do that! If I understand this right this shark will loan you £750 to go bankrupt but you have to pay back £2850? Thats 300% interest! Don't be a sucker for this you'll end up in a worse position and with the added possibility of no legs if you can't pay it back!

Gavin, if you can't raise the £750, where are you going to get 4 times that amount to pay this shark ?
