So now I'm out of the hole and rebuilding as I go.....

Got the clearscore app, Noddle and free trial of CreditExpert....

Looked for lots of advice and decided that a CC was a good thing to apply for and use to help boos everything back to normal ratings....

Well.... I applied for an MBNA card and was accepted (used one of the sites above for pre accepted nod and wink!)

Application screen refreshes and advises me of my success and credit limit......

£8,800!!!!!!!!!
Are they bloody nuts?!?!?

Can I ask for it to be lowered?

Cheers

I expect you can ask for it to be lowered. But don't go too low. One of the negatives listed on my credit scoring is that my cc limit is low (£1000 -- didn't want more as only buy petrol and pay it off every month).
My opinions are merely that .. opinions based on experience. Always seek professional advice.

I have just had a Capital One approved with a 2k limit which I am quite happy with to build up the old credit rating.

I have two CCs ..one with a nil balance and a limit of £8500 and another with zero interest and a nil balance of £5500 ... absolutely madness ... I certainly learnt my lesson before our iva.
Like Kallis if you have it too low it can have negative effect on your credit score
