Hi guys I've not posted for a long time on here but I'm coming up to my review 4th year and I'm worried sick.

I have had a bad year I have had to have work done to my roof at a cost of £1400 and my wife's mum died at Easter which we have had to help with costs of the funeral.

The reason why I am worried is because last years review we owed around £1500 extra income I used allot of the extra to take my wife and her mum on brake away to spend some membrable time together HB wasn't very understanding about that.
which we then agreed that we would increase our monthly payment to pay the outstanding by the end of the agreement but they advised me any extra this year would need to be paid in,

But I ended up having to use the money I had saved for the review to help towards the funeral costs and our roof.

I know they are going to average our monthly pay again and request a increase which I'm already at my limit with paying arreas.

Please help me I'm going out my mind and I can't add this extra pressure to my wife who has only just gone back to work after having brief spell of mental illness after loosing her mum.

Thanks
Ste

I am so sorry to hear of your problems and of the loss of your mother in law and I hope your wife is now fully recovered.

You need to speak to HB - I presume they didn't know of the roof repairs and funeral costs? I am sure they would have been sympathetic and given you a payment break.

Please speak to them asap.

Hi Sorry to hear about what an awful year you have had.

In the circumstances it might be best to ask for an extension to give you time to make up the arrears at the end.

What a terrible year and what a wonderful husband you are, putting your wife first and making those memories for your wife was paramount.

As Lisa says, can you ask for an extension, to clear the arrears rather than trying to increase payments, this may alleviate the situation for you. All the best.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

Hi,
Thank you for your replys making them memory's didn't help the iva situation last year, because in the past they have increased my payment to cover the arreas I thought sometimes some things are more important which they didn't take kindly too because I didn't pay my 50% uplifts.
But it was important for my wife to spend as much good times with her mum as possible.
HB will never understand what has happend over the last two years there just dosent seem to be a end to the bad news and I just don't know how to approach this after the way it was delt with last year.

Thanks again.

I'm afraid that although you IP might (or might not) be sympathetic to your situation they have a duty to Supervise your IVA and ensure you adhere to the terms.

When you breach the terms, for whatever reason, they must follow the breach procedures.

They cannot simply decide that they feel sorry for you and let you off certain payments.
