I am currently 19 months into an IVA and I am looking to start a family in the next year or so. I am worried that I wont be able to afford to live or support my child whilst on an IVA, or that the IVA will fail because of additional expenses incurred. Can you offer any advice? Many Thanks
Becky

No one can advise you whether to go ahead and have a family or not - that is a very personal decision and one which you will not be taking lightly. You will need to consider how having a baby will affect your finances generally, what maternity package your employer has available, and what support and benefits you will be able to claim once the baby has arrived.

You should then consider how this will all fit into your IVA and whether it will affect your ability to make your payments - and then put ongoing debe repayment and family life in order of your lifestyle priorities to decide whether you can do both, or which is the most important to you.
