Tell them that if they persist in ringing you might end up losing your job and they'd get nothing.

Tell them just to ring your mobile and you will speak to them on that, I know that has worked for a lot of people.

Letters, telling them it was harassment and I would report them if they continued. I also said that I would only deal with them in writing.

At my worst point I was getting seven calls a day from one of my creditors (let's hear it for the Co-Op)!

It does get better. Hang in there.

Yep, kallis is right. I made sure my work number was taken off and gave them my mobile as my new work number. The call centres are automatically generated calls and will not stop until their systems are updated. If you speak to them and tell them that your are proposing an IVA then they can stop the calls and put your account on hold for up to 10 days.

It can be a tough time I do agree but every day is a step nearer to your meeting date, one step at a time. All good advice as above and remember we're all here to help support you through this time. x
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

The best thing to do is to get that paperwork to the IP, as the sooner they receive it the sooner they will be able to start work on preparing your proposals.

we have been quite lucky in that our calls have all been tot he house and we have been able to sceen them. I did go online and remove all teh numbers from the systems....though this has only worked for about 75%.

As your ID suggests, keep your chin up and when you feel the need to cry, DO IT, I did and still do. It helps sometimes to relieve the pressue. I am lucky that I have my sister and a brilliant IP and team.

Plus of course this forum is the next best thing to Sliced Bread !!!!

I informed them from the start that I would not talk to them by phone in any way and only by letter or email. I then got a new cheap mobile for familly and freinds and never bothered answering all the calls. I never had a problem with stress and just ignored but did reply to letters straight away.

i was a bit worried talking to creditors at first-but once i got the date for the creditors meeting became more confident-a heck of a lot of people that work at call centres dont know what an iva is-and carry on telling you you MUST make a payment today, they will take it further and numerous other threats. With the current climate you would have thought the credit firms would give their staff at least a little bit of info on ivas-would stop a lot of repeat calls and letters and save them a fair bit of time and money chasing people who have made an effort to deal with their debts. The attitude of call centre staff is at best indifferent and at worst downright nasty!!customer care is lovely when they are throwing money at you or you are ringing to make a payment-i wander if they choose staff on attitude-the nice ones get to work in lending and the not so nice in recovery!!
I also would not confirm who i was when they called or pass the phone to my husband-if they wouldnt tell me who they were-i wasnt confessing either!!!name, date of birth,income-if you are one of our creditors you already know this!!Put it in writing - thats all they got from us!!
full and final accepted January 2015

iva agreed; August 2010
iva would have completed; August 2017
extra year thank's to NRAM
