I would definitley persue your I.P as you really need to discuss your options with them and keep them in the loop. It is possible for you to go bankrupt but you will need to stop making your IVA payments so you can fund your bankruptcy.

It may be possible to try for a variation (even if it's just temporary until you finish college) but you really need to speak to your IP and discuss the situation with them. Keep phoning/writing to them as you need to get this sorted before you start missing payments. If you decide to go BR, you don't own a house, so no problem, but how much is your car worth? If it's high value then the OR will want it sold (they then give you an allowance to buy a cheaper car if they deem it essential that you have a car). Good luck.
