Im already in a I.V.A and got 17 months left . I have full D.L.A and social benefits . Im housbound due to my illnesses and my car has blown a head gasket, I am trying to find out if its viable without affecting the I.V.A if I could get a mobility car which would reduce the I.V.A payments which are very close to the overall cost of a mobility vehicle thank you for your time and patience.

Hi and welcome to the forum. I would speak directly with your IP, especially if this will impact on your payments. They will be able to give case specific advice and I hope you can find a way forward as to be housebound is not good.
IVA final payment left the bank on the 26th January 2013...looking forward to a debt free future.

I am aware others have gone onto claim the mobility element of DLA and been allowed to source a vehicle under this whilst in an IVA but as Lesley advices its best to speak direct to your IP for specific advice on your account

Hi, my husband got a mobility car whilst in an IVA, your DLA money is usually included in incomings but should have been offset in your outgoings as it is a benefit purely for such matters ie running car,car insurance, medical expenses etc. We notified our IP and were told it was fine as once you have your motability car you no longer pay car insurance, pay for tyres or pay for servicing your vehicle. Hope that helps as we have been there and was an easy process.

I agree with Emsmum and that is exactly how we would treat it. The DLA is excluded anyway so how you spend it is up to you.
