Hi everyone,
Since my last post i have had a telephone meeting with stepchange iva team and been told i have strong chance to get accepted.
Back in year 2000 ı had some debts and i believe they are all statute barred as ı never heard from them since 2000 only one letter ıve received but ignored it and never received any more since then..
My credit file had no record of those debts or there is no ccjs any of my credit files ı checked them all.
Do ı need to metion those debts to my IP or shall i just concantrate with my recent situation?
I really forgot about them since i start filling the forms and putting paper work together.
İts been nearly 17 years for those debts.
I am worring that my iva wont go through because of those debts.
Am ı over reacting or should i really worry?

Possibly not - I really don't know. Perhaps one of our Industry experts can comment.

A statute barred debt does not cease to exist, however I am unsure as to whether they should be brought up now, as acknowledging them now will re start the clock on them. Hopefully one of the Industry Experts will come along and advise.

Hi Oya,

I suggest you let your IP know about the debts and that you can not remember any further information about them.
They will get you set up on an IVA and if any of the old debts you can not remember get back in touch, they will have to first prove the debt (unlikely as most creditors sell the debt after a year and collectors do not usually keep files open for more than a year) and if they can prove it, normally can be added to the current IVA.

It is always better to be open and honest with your IP -- otherwise you would be spending the next 5 years feeling very stressed. Also your IP will appreciate not getting any surprises later on :-)

Hopefully within two three weeks i will be receiving my proposal but i know from now it wont br easy and i will aleays find something to worry about until hopefully the day i get acceptance finger cross..
