Our mortgage is in my husbands name only,we have debts in my name only, his name only and we have a joint credit card and bank account.Would we have to enter into separate IVAs or make a joint agreement?

Hi S and B

You would enter into separate IVA's as individuals.

How much debt do each of you have?

You say that the property is in your husbands name only, how long has he owned this property and how long have you been married? Also how much is outstanding on the mortgage and any secured loans and what is the value of the property?

It is true that IVA are for individuals and therefore you will need to have one each, however with most couples (married or otherwise) it is usual to treat these as mutual and interlocking - and therefore they are commonly referred to as "joint" proposals.
