Today i received my completion certificate, and i am so landed, it really is all over,i am officially debt free, apart from the unofficial £10000 i owe my parents for the F&F offer!
It is a great releif and i am still amazed by how much my life has changed within 16 months, financially i have a tiny bit more money left each month than i did when my iva was running, this is because i set up a standing order and am paying back my parents each month, so i am still living to a very simular strict budget.
i still love that everything i now purchase is paid for in cash, and that i plan and save for things like birthdays and christmases.
I did think that once my completion certificate arrived then maybe soon after i would apply for a credit card to rebuild credit, for one day i will surely need a new car, but at this moment in time the thought of owning a credit card makes me feel physically sick and very anxious, so its definatly not for me at the moment.
one last thing a huge thanks to melanie giles and her team at the iva advice company, always realistic proffessional friendly and everything dealt with in a timely manner.
and a big thank you to all forum members for your advice and support especially in the early days!
what a wonderful resource this site is.

thanks again,
a very happy katxx

Great news - well done.

Hang fire on the credit card for a while - prove to yourself and family you can live without one !

Also use this time now to pay mum and dad back before you get used to having your money back each month - then you will be totally debt free and can start again....

Well done and enjoy your evening !

lulu i have lived without credit since february 2011, initially i was terrified of not having the back up of credit, but its amazing to pay for everything in cash, maybe one day i will get one just for petrol and pay it off every month just to rebuild credit files, but not yet its way to soon, like i said the thought makes me feel very anxious, i already have a mortgage so the only thing i may want credit for in the future is a car, and the one i have is not to bad at the moment, so it can all wait, and i am just enjoying being debt free.

I'm so pleased for you Kat - I remember the feeling well when I saw the certificate!

Good luck now with your debt free life! I have just applied for a Vanquis card as they mailshot me. Just really to put petrol on each month and to clear. Bit scared of having a card again but know it makes sense long term.
