When my hubby and i first started the IVA in October 2003 we were allowed £260 per month for food. This was pretty megre then but we have asked for a review because of our change incircumstances and I've just had a call from my IP stating that they will still only allow £260 per month for food regardless of the fact that the cost of living has risen so sharply. Is this a figure that's used across the board for 2 adults?

It should be pointed out these were only guidelines and a lot of IP's actually use their brains unlike a lot of the others..

Bread, pasta, rice have ALL gone over 12%. Any reasonable IP would understand this.

Which company are you with?

I remember that one of the forum experts along with Melanie was due to meet CCCS and discuss these ridiculously outdated levels.

I am a single person and i am allowed £200 pm for food so clearly you should have room for manoueveure

Good luck

Im a single person and get £200 a month too...which is a comfortable amount to eat well on when theres 4 weeks in a month, but only just works out in the two 5 week months.

We should be given decent allowances..just cause we ran up some debts doesnt mean we should have to live on pig swill and damage our health!

You stand your ground Lynchmeistress!! :o)

we are a family of four, with two strapping teenage boys, 1 of which is a 6 foot 2 vegetarian and the other autistic (very particular eating habits) we only get £430 pm for food, cleaning and toiletries, which is impossible (and we buy nearly all value)

I can see why people would choose BR over being in an IVA. My food and housekeeping allowance is £350 per month for 2 people. As I eat very little dairy food my food bill is higher than normal, but the allowances in an IVA should definitely be increased.

Hi there,
Chin up - I know where you're comming from as I'm now wondering if BR would have been beter for me. I get £184 per month for food, toiletries, cleaning products and sundries. I had to fight to get hotel allowance - what can you do when you travel for work (not o[tional it's a key part of the job)and need to eat away from home? I think they expected me to sleep in the car, starve and present at national meetings the following day!!
Will be doing a good news storey in a mo - well as good as it gets for me!! What you win with one hand gets snatched from the other...

my household budget is ridiculously low, I'm 'allowed' £130 for me and 2 cats. Vet fees and cat food costs approx £25 a month so it doesn't leave much! It's a good job I'm dieting!!
