I would be very concerned about accepting an increase as high as that in the longterm. If people keep accepting this sort of increase, then creditors will carry on demanding them and accusing IPs of not putting forward correct figures. This has got to stop somewhere, but if you feel that you can afford it then the very best of luck.

Hi FF
Can you just let us know how many are in your household ?
If this was a TIX compliant IVA your IP should have proposed your the housekeeping at the rate set out by CCCS guidelines

Caraf...My wife & I plus my 16 yr old son.
I will post on here when I get more info, I know they specifically trimmed the household expenditure & Medical not sure about anything else.
In anwer to Melanie, I understand where you are coming from and you have a valid point. However, when you have been waiting for the result for several hours and are freaking out and very stressed...It is not difficult to go ahead and accept an increase like mine. I know I can afford it so it was not such an issue but when you are faced with possible rejection or going ahead what do you do?
It is without doubt manipulation by the creditors of the highest order in trying to get their pound of flesh, but you have to make a decision YES/NO after all the waiting and stress.
I don't agree with them doing it but its not a nice position to be placed in..

Hi
Well CCCS guidelines are £302 average and £370 max so your IP was asking for a modification on this expense.
Anyway well done to you and what a relief it must be to you.Don't let our debate about the extra payment detract from your success

Hi
Gudelines for 2A and 2C are an average of £364 and a maximum of £445
It is clear that something needs to be done but why have guidelines set by creditor funded organisations,as is the case now ?
Surely the Insolvency Services should produce some guidelines that the creditors respect and adhere to for both bankruptcies and IVAs
Remember creditors have NO say over the expenditure figure allowed by the OR for income payment orders in bankruptcy, why are IPs treated so differently ?

Hi caraf....Im sorry if my iva acceptance has worried you?
I am sure you will be concerned about my increase with some of your creditors using TIX.
Im sure it was just me, I did have a massive debt total with a large number of creditors, and I am taking home in excess of £3K pm so it may well be they saw me as game for an increase, Im sure you will be fine, they surely judge each case on its merits..

To FrequentFlyer

If you feel that you can afford the additional monies, then so be it, but my point was that so many people get forced into accepting ridiculously high contributions and do not then take a proper amount of time to reconsider as they feel that they have no choice on the day of the meeting. Experience tells me that this will lead to a high level of IVA failures - but I am sure that you will not be one of them.

To any other posters faced with this situation, I suggest that you ask your IP to adjourn the meeting proceedings for 14 days to enable you to really consider whether you can make such changes to your budget, and sustain them for the next five years.
