You can check this link out - it compares some cards.

http://www.iva.co.uk/prepaid-cards-comparison.asp

The other thing to do is check out the websites for certain cards and compare the advantages and disadvanges for them.

The cashplus card has a monthly fee of £4.95.

I still disagree with having to pay to put money on a card then pay again to take my money back out!!! Its just wrong. People in iva's etc dont have buckets of cash to save yet are taken advantage of by using these cards. Just my opinion mind.

I don't mind paying a pound to load it up - they have to make their money somehow, as you obviously don't get charged interest.

I wouldn't take cash out, but as I don't have any other sort of card, then it's useful for internet shopping, otherwise I couldn't do any. I don't get charged for those transactions.

I wouldn't have one with a monthly fee though.

Wen, I presume you have to be a Utility Warehouse customer to get this card as the cashback is paid by means of a deduction from your utility bill?
John, if the credit is bigger than your bill then you just get the remaining credit paid into your bank (not that i've been in that situation)!! lol

Another advantage of the Uw card is that it has a 4 or 5 year expiry, so there is no £9.99 replacement card fee every year, unlike other cards like cashplus. I don't know how long the paypal expiry card is. UW card also has instant top-up via a debit card over the phone if you need funds on there quick.

Also I believe with paypal you can only load a certain amount over a 12month period.

Swans_girl: if hubby works for JS then that's ideal. We set a monthly budget for food/petrol of £600/month, so we load it straight on as soon as Mrs. wen gets paid and then it's easy to keep track of our shopping budget. A spare £30 is always welcome too!!

My Paypal card expires 08/10, so it's valid for 2 years.

A note of caution from the utility warehouse site....

New customers please note: in order to apply for a CashBack card, you must also apply for at least one other service from us.
Arghhhhh!!!!!!!!!
